Desktop virtualisation delivers significant savings for Anglicare SA

Anglicare SA identified that their existing network infrastructure was no longer performing to their business needs. The management of 850+ desktop devices, maintaining operating systems and the protection of business data was time intensive for the business’ IT group and offered a poor return on investment. Iocane developed a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution built around Critrix’s XenDesktop technology partnered with Cisco UCS servers and NetApp storage platforms to deliver a bundle called a FlexPod. Desktop virtualisation optimises the delivery of desktops, applications and data creating a seamless, consistent experience for each staff member regardless of their location or device.

Noble & Son takes to the cloud

A long-established business with complex IT requirements, Nobles had outgrown its existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application. Nobles was committed to exploring the options available for its infrastructure, including moving data to a public or private cloud, at a time when the cloud was a relatively new concept. For Nobles, the solution was a new platform lay in Iocane’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering, which is underpinned by Cisco network and server elements and NetApp storage technology. The Iocane architecture allows for rapid provisioning of server capacity to suit Nobles’ business needs.

With IBM XIV, Internode’s Capacity Worries Are Averted

Having quadrupled in size in a few short years, Internode’s previous storage system was at capacity, unable to accommodate new projects as well as being complex and time consuming to maintain. Iocane replaced Internode's traditional SAN systems with an IBM XIV storage system that delivered a four-fold increase in storage capacity, improved system performance and manageability. All of Internode's systems remained operational throughout of the upgrade deployment, with no interruption to service. Internode saves thousands of dollars each year in operating costs and their power consumption has reduced by a massive 68%.

Lifeplan Funds Management automates compliance with Tivoli Storage Manager

To align with revised APRA business continuity management standards, Lifeplan identified that it would need to develop a completely new business recovery site strategy. Lifeplan needed to ensure compliance with these standards but wanted to derive other business benefits from this significant financial investment. Iocane proposed a solution built around Tivoli® Storage Manager, which would handle the transfer and automatic backup of Lifeplan’s IT infrastructure to a disaster recovery site. The additional introduction of IBM BladeCenter® and virtualisation also helped to provide increased levels of agility and reduce the total cost of ownership. Lifeplan now enjoys automated compliance that meets current industry legislative requirements and has improved its risk management profile. In the process Lifeplan has also consolidated its IT infrastructure, which helped to reduce its energy usage and deliver IT resources which can be deployed quickly in response to business needs.
